In Codroipo

Codroipo is located in the middle of a suggestive resurgence area to be traveled on foot or by bicycle between black alders, poplars and silvery willows close to water courses and forest areas in which foxes, hares, roes and squirrels live in it. Thanks to the numerous waterways, still today there are several ancient mills such as the Bosa mill. Some of these are still functioning, for example the 15th century mill of Bert, that is accessible to visit. For any further info Parco delle Risorgive.

Codroipo is also and above all Villa Manin, in which the last Doge of Venice dwelt in it and where Napoleon Bonaparte signed the 1797 Treaty of Campoformido, that marked the end of the Republic of Venice. The 17th century mansion has a large English park with trees from all over the world, it frames many events and concerts and there is also a regional tourist Infopoint. In close proximity there is the historical coaches museum, with almost 50 perfectly working cars and not too far away from Codroipo, in Rivolto, that is the seat of the tricolour arrows (Frecce Tricolori) that precisely in these skies train for the air shows of the National Acrobatic Patrol.

It is home to one of the most prestigious public libraries in Italy, the oldest in Friuli Venezia Giulia: the Guarneriana Civic Library, born in 1466 with a precious bequest of illuminated manuscripts. In the Sant’Antonio Abate Church there is also the most beautiful cycle of Renaissance frescoes of the region, work of Pellegrino from San Daniele.

Lignano is the most famous beach of the region. Under 8 kilometers of fine and golden sand you can find a calm sea divided into three centres: Lignano Sabbiadoro, with its thousand restaurants, bars and shops, Lignano Pineta, a more residential area among shady gardens and elegant avenues, and Lignano Riviera, the most relaxing zone immersed in a rich vegetation.
